Cinder (with show review)

Monarch tavern - toronto, on

Cinder kicked off 2023 with an energy packed show, headlining the Monarch Tavern for Exclaim.ca’s Class of 2023.

The band’s first EP, Saucers For Eyes, translates even bigger and better live. The unique vocals of Sam Riley (also guitar) mixed with the talented drumming and vocals of Robyn Bond make a great writing pair and a deadly duo on stage. Every member however, including bass, guitar, and synth  from Dan and Sean, created a passionate and trancelike stage energy.

Songs like “Cell Phone” and “Flesh World” are hard to hear without moving your feet, without wanting to be apart of the crowd screaming and dancing.

After the set, Sam commented that every show just gets rowdier - more crowd surfing and shouting of lyrics back. Cinder made a small venue feel big and it was a privilege to experience.

Cinder are gearing up to release “Something Strange and Cloudy Across a Crowded Room” and you can stream “Another Beautiful Thing You’ll Never Get Back” right now.
